Infrared (IR) is part of the electromagnetic spectrum ranging from 0.76μm to 1000μm, located just beyond the red color of visible light. While infrared is invisible, it shares properties with light: it travels at light speed, can be directed or focused, and propagates effectively even in vacuum.
When IR radiation is absorbed by an object, internal heat is generated as IR causes atomic vibration, raising temperature. Infrared heating does not require any medium like air or water to transfer heat to substances.
