What is MI Cable?
Mineral Insulated cables feature conductors enclosed by a metal jacket and insulated with hard-packed Magnesium Oxide (MgO). This construction provides high-temperature capability, exceptional electrical isolation, and physical protection for conductors in harsh environments.
Construction Details
- Copper or thermocouple wires inside copper, stainless steel, or Inconel sheath
- Magnesium oxide insulation resists oxidation and ionizing radiation
- Chemically and physically stable at high temperatures
- Available with 1, 2, or 3 pairs of conductors in various configurations
- Common applications: heat treating metals, incinerators, sintering, ceramic firing, furnaces, and energy plants
