Tapered roller bearings consist of four interdependent components: the cone (inner ring), the cup (outer ring), the tapered rollers (rolling elements) and the cage (roller retainer). Tapered roller bearings are uniquely designed to manage both thrust and radial loads between a rotating and non-rotating member. The steeper the cup angle, the greater the ability of the bearing to handle thrust loads.

Excavator bearing installation and removal methods should be based on excavator bearing structure, size and the nature of the bearing components. During installation and removal, pressure should be applied directly to the excavator bearing ring tight end surface, not through the excavator bearing rolling body transfer pressure. Applying pressure through rolling elements can cause surface indentation, affecting normal bearing operation and potentially damaging the excavator bearing. Excavator bearing cages, seals, dust covers and other components are prone to deformation, so installation or removal pressure cannot be applied to these parts.
