While magnesium or cerium treatments primarily induce spheroidization, vanadium acts as a secondary enhancer. It promotes finer eutectic cell sizes and stabilizes the graphite nodules by restricting unwanted flake formation. Furthermore, vanadium's strong affinity for carbon produces finely dispersed vanadium carbides (VC) within the matrix, reinforcing the iron and raising its wear resistance and high‑temperature stability.
