Introduction of Beryllium Copper Alloy No. 3:
C17510 Beryllium copper alloy, also known as alloy 3, gets its strength from precipitation heat treating. The grade of the C17510 material has a very high yield-strength-to- conductivity ratio and is good for moderate stress applications where galling is a concern. C17510(Alloy 3) is used mainly in aerospace and plastic mold tooling industries, this product is ideal for small electronic connector and mold tooling applications including pylon bushings for large turbine engines, conductors, relay parts, and roll pins.
Alloy Description: Copper Beryllium
UK: Alloy 3, CuNi2Be
EU: (France) Alliage 3

Key Technology of Beryllium Copper(Heat treatment)
Age Hardening
Age hardening significantly enhances the material’s strength. This reaction is generally carried out at temperatures between 260°C and 540°C depending on alloy and desired characteristics. This cycle causes the dissolved beryllium to precipitate as a beryllium rich (gamma) phase in the matrix and at the grain boundaries. It is the formation of this precipitate which causes the large increase in material strength. The level of mechanical properties attained is determined by the temperature and time at temperature. It should be recognized that beryllium copper has no room temperature aging characteristics.
