Product Description
The RPS6U is a power supply unit designed for use in industrial machinery protection and monitoring system racks. It is installed in the front of a standard 6U system rack and connects to the rack's backplane, providing +5 VDC and ±12 VDC power to the rack and all its modules.
One or two RPS6U units can be installed in a single rack. Using one 330W unit can fully power a rack in environments up to 50°C (122°F). Installing two units allows for two operating modes: a redundant mode, where if one fails the other can provide full power to maintain system operation; or a combined non-redundant mode to power a full rack in higher temperature conditions where a single unit's output would be reduced.
Different versions of the RPS6U allow the rack to be powered by external AC or DC sources, supporting a wide input voltage range. A status relay on the rack's rear panel indicates normal power supply operation. When powered by AC mains, an additional auxiliary power unit can be installed in the rack to provide +24 VDC for external sensors and related hardware.
