Significant Advantages of Industrial Air Springs
The core component of an air spring shock absorber, the air spring, originated in the mid-19th century and was initially used for vibration damping in mechanical equipment. Due to its numerous advantages, it has gained widespread application in modern road and rail vehicles, as well as industrial machinery. An air spring uses compressed air (or water) as a medium and is an elastic element that utilizes the reaction force of the compressed air within it as an elastic restoring force. It is a non-metallic spring with spring-like properties. Air springs include rubber springs and composite rubber springs.
- Rubber springs have a low elastic modulus and exhibit significant elastic deformation under load, thereby absorbing impact and vibration. They can withstand multi-directional loads simultaneously, but their high-temperature resistance and oil resistance are inferior to steel springs. They offer good vibration damping, a small resonance range, long service life, low cost, good cold resistance, excellent airtightness, waterproofing, and electrical insulation, making them the best choice for vibration damping.
- Composite rubber springs consist of a metal helical spring and an outer layer of high-quality vulcanized rubber. It combines the advantages of metal springs and rubber springs, overcoming the shortcomings of metal springs such as high rigidity and high operating noise, and rubber springs such as low load-bearing capacity and poor stability in shape and mechanical performance. It has advantages such as higher load capacity and larger deformation, better vibration reduction and noise reduction effect, smooth operation, and short resonance range.
