Pressure and volume of air spring gas
The
spring
constant
of
the
air
spring
has
nonlinear
characteristics.
That
is,
the
elastic
coefficient
is
adjustable.
Also,
this
type
of
spring
is
less
likely
to
have
resonance
effects.
At
a
certain
temperature,
the
pressure
of
a
gas
is
inversely
proportional
to
its
volume;
in
simple
terms,
when
the
gas
volume
is
compressed
by
half,
the
internal
gas
pressure
(elasticity)
doubles.
With
this
feature,
when
a
load
is
carried
on
the
air
spring,
the
amount
of
gas
compressed
downward
by
its
weight
will
become
an
upward
supporting
elastic
force.
Compressed
gas
also
provides
greater
upward
support
when
carrying
heavier
objects,
and
is
less
likely
to
feel
any
drop
in
its
elasticity.
Additionally, air springs absorb many small rebound shocks better than traditional metal springs. Therefore, passengers can feel more comfortable. Fragile goods are less likely to be damaged by impounding roads.
