How to use Oral Rae Endotracheal Tube?
 
An oral endotracheal tube is a medical device used for airway management and mechanical ventilation. It is inserted through the mouth and advanced into the trachea to secure the airway and facilitate the delivery of oxygen and ventilation.
Here are the general steps for using an oral endotracheal tube:
 
Preparations:
 
Gather the necessary equipment, including the appropriate size oral endotracheal tube, laryngoscope, stylet (if needed), lubricant, suction device, and securing materials (e.g., tape or tube holder).

Ensure that the patient is properly positioned, usually in a supine position with the head slightly extended.

Preoxygenation:
Administer supplemental oxygen to the patient via a mask or other means to optimize oxygenation before intubation.

Pre-medication:
If necessary, administer appropriate medications to induce sedation and/or paralysis as per the patient's condition and medical guidelines.

Oral intubation:
 

• Apply a water-based lubricant to the oral endotracheal tube to facilitate insertion.
• Open the patient's mouth using a tongue depressor or other suitable method.
• Insert the laryngoscope blade into the mouth and gently lift the tongue and epiglottis to visualize the vocal cords.
• Insert the oral endotracheal tube into the mouth, passing it between the vocal cords and into the trachea.
• Confirm proper tube placement using clinical indicators (e.g., bilateral breath sounds, chest rise, capnography) and, if available, confirm with a chest X-ray.

Securing the tube:
 
Secure the oral endotracheal tube in place using tape, a tube holder, or other appropriate methods. It's crucial to ensure that the tube is adequately secured to prevent accidental dislodgement.
Post-intubation care:
 

• Connect the endotracheal tube to the anesthesia or ventilator circuit.
• Confirm proper ventilation and adjust ventilator settings as needed.
• Maintain appropriate cuff pressure and monitor it regularly.
• Provide ongoing monitoring of the patient's vital signs, oxygenation, and ventilation.
